ABOUT
**The Brief**
A self-initiated workshop developed in response to the exhibition exploring the work and legacy of May Morris. The aim was to create an engaging, accessible art workshop that connected participants with May Morris’s creative practice while encouraging them to explore pattern, colour and botanical design through their own making.
**My Approach**
I researched May Morris’s work, particularly her use of botanical forms, pattern and decorative composition, and translated these ideas into a practical, hands-on creative experience for adult learners.
I developed the workshop from concept through to delivery, considering how the exhibition could provide inspiration without simply asking participants to reproduce May Morris’s designs. The session was designed to encourage observation, experimentation and individual interpretation, allowing participants to create their own work while learning about the historical and artistic context.
As a qualified adult educator with a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training, I structured the workshop to be welcoming and accessible to different levels of artistic experience, combining contextual information, demonstration and guided practical activity.
**The Result**
The completed workshop provided participants with a creative journey inspired by May Morris, connecting art-historical discovery with contemporary hands-on making. I produced and delivered the workshop as an original programme, demonstrating my ability to develop exhibition-led creative experiences for adult audiences from initial concept and research through to teaching and delivery.
The workshop forms part of my wider practice developing and delivering original art and design workshops for galleries, museums and cultural organisations.
