Company Position

Bristol, Myers, Squib

(June 2000) Work experience and work shadowing Vice president with responsibility for development and marketing. This gave me an early insight into the area of marketing as the company was at the time involved in the launch of a new product.

Garratt Park School (Wandsworth)(, Part -time) Two afternoons a week working as a classroom assistant in this special school for students with moderate learning difficulties. I learnt how to deal with a wide variety of clients and (sometimes difficult) situations and the importance of team work in working with a number of people to meet students needs and targets.

Penwortham Primary school. (Sept. 2002 - May 2003 Full time) Worked as a classroom assistant where I supported students on a one-to-one basis as well as whole class support. I worked on administrative tasks with the head teacher and gained insights into the complex management of this educational organisation.

Social projects in Honduras(May 2003 - August 2003, Full-time) I volunteered and travelled alone to Honduras. I worked on projects in undeveloped communities with impoverished people who had been drinking polluted water before the scheme took place with Global Vision International. My duties included, installing a fresh water system to a village, working in an orphanage and an ecological project on the coast. This work gave me a much broader view of the issues of aid, globalisation and the importance of team work, self discipline and management in very difficult circumstances.

Telesales. Legal Advice bureau. (Sep 2004- July2005) Along side my studies I worked as a dialoguer to companies and clients with regards to their legal rights and financial situation. I dealt with difficult and sometimes aggressive situations with which my social and professional skills where stretched. I adapted to resolve difficult interactions with individual clients and organisations.

Dialogue direct/Amnesty International.

(June 2005 - Sept. 2005, December 2005 and April 2006. I was a member of a fund raising team in Central London. We had individual targets (which I regularly achieve and surpassed) and team targets for which I trained and supervised other team members. In August 2005 I was asked to represent my team as London's highest achievers at the Annual awards ceremony. Later I worked as team leader and learnt motivational skills, supervisory skills and training and development skills. This managerial position with dialogue direct (face to face fundraising company) meant I was in charge of 6 fundraisers which meant I had to think on my feet, work as a team and use persuasive tactics constantly while remaining in a position of responsibility that was unusual for my age.

All Bar One

(November 2006- Date) In this organisation I work as a member of the bar staff team and a table waitress. Customer care is a keynote of the organisation and I have fine tuned my client service skills in the work as well as gaining an appreciation and understanding of the skills and qualities needed to run financially successful business in a highly competitive area.

Interests & Hobbies

I write on a weekly basis for 'student direct' the university news paper in the music section and am part of the music society. I promote club nights in Manchester, the largest of which had 1,600 attendants- *, particularly in the Guardian on Mondays. I have recently completed the prestigious 'Break into the Media' course at Manchester University. I have attended talks by The Head of Marketing at BBC drama, Gordon Burns and other Broadcasting representatives. I avidly seek to intellectually stimulate myself and extend my knowledge of culture by travelling, watching unusual foreign films and visiting the theatre. I enjoy dance, music and drama and keep myself healthy by cooking a variety of natural dishes and attending several gym sessions each week.
