This interview was undertaken as a follow-up to a previous documentary film on homelessness in Manchester, following the same characters. We explored the issue of Spice addiction on the streets of Manchester, and Izy and Andy's experience of addiction and rehabilitation, and their reflections on the current situation.
The editor at the Manchester Evening News enjoyed the intimacy and candour of this piece, which was accomplished by an ongoing and trusting relationship over a few years between myself and the protagonists, and my delicate anthropological approach and engagement, and of course the brilliance of Andy and Izy themselves as spokespeople for the homeless youth of Manchester.
