ABOUT

BRIEF
A leading global manufacturer of beauty and dermatology products wanted to assess a potential new market: aesthetics.

Led by the proliferation of visual channels, including Instagram and Snapchat, the aesthetics arena has enjoyed a recent boom.

Meanwhile, the client’s traditional revenues were under threat from rivals undercutting prices and investing heavily in advertising.

STRATEGY
We worked in tandem with senior leadership to design and implement a three-stage research strategy. We wanted to understand:

the opportunity for new products within the market

the growth of the beautician market vs. traditional aesthetics providers

the impact of social media on the consumer decision-making process

Our approach blended qualitative and quantitative research. We sought broad perspectives from opinion leaders, distributors, beauticians and consumers.

By breaking the project into three distinct stages, the client was able to feedback at regular intervals to ensure the business could receive insight throughout.

RESULTS
The business is now an established aesthetics player. Our research has informed its approach to service design and product development, ensuring it’s well placed to maximise emerging opportunities.
