The Palace of Mafra is Portugal’s most significant Baroque monument. On 7 July 2019, the Royal Building of Mafra – comprising the Palace, Basilica, Convent, Cerco Garden, and Hunting Park (Tapada) – was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace’s two towers house a remarkable set of 120 cast bronze bells, categorized into hour, liturgical, and carillon bells.
