ABOUT

The co-worker restaurant rebuild was a quick turn around project with a no graphics budget completed as a collaborative effort between myself and interior designer Louise Archibald. As a creative team we were inspired by blonde woods, nature and bold patterns. This felt rooted in modern scandinavian design and ultimately captured the feeling of the IKEA brand. The space was divided between two different sides of a hall, some parts walled off into quiet areas. To tie these areas together I developed the birch tree motif. This would signify you were in a co-worker relaxing zone, set apart visually from the look of the offices or shop floor. They were also quick and cost effective to create in store.

The chopping board wall was an idea I developed as a statement piece as you enter the restaurant. As the graphics budget was so constrained it was necessary to be creative with materials so as to not sacrifice on quality. By writing off chopping board stock I could fill the wall, connect it to our products and create a statement at the same time whilst keeping. costs low. The content of the boards all connect to IKEA’s ethos of Swedishness, sustainability, togetherness and home furnishing.
