ABOUT

The Peace Museum is the only one of its kind in the UK. They reach thousands of people every year, engaging and inspiring a new generation of peacemakers – work which is needed now, more than ever.

I worked closely with the Museum team to create a bold, fresh brand identity that recognised their history, referenced the collections and reflected the vibrant energy of their future. The design is influenced by historical graphics of protest and activism, with a bold approach to typography. The Museum’s original logo of a dove was re-imagined with a contemporary feel to allow for a wide range of applications from large format exhibition graphics to social media.

Using the new brand, I helped the museum develop their first range of merchandise including badges, t-shirts, mugs and tote bags. These products are not only a great way to engage new audiences but also offer a vital new earned income stream for the charity.

“We were relaunching The Peace Museum and we needed to carry out a brand refresh exercise to bring our identity up to date, to resonate with contemporary audiences and to underpin all our activities. Rachael understood what we needed and helped us arrive at a coherent visual approach and delivered a fantastic brand identity. The creativity, integrity and quality of her work is simply incredible and we are very grateful for her expertise.

Our new identity hasn’t disappointed and has directly contributed to the success of our new chapter.”

“Since reopening we’re averaging about 300 visitors a day, 1,500 every week, and it’s been a massive increase since we were last open in our old site. To have that massive increase of people coming in and getting to see our amazing collection, it’s been incredible.”
