ABOUT
Photo Hub North CIC is a not for profit community focused organisation driven by a belief that everyone should have access to photography, the arts and culture, and the opportunity to express themselves in a supportive environment.
Their vision is to improve community cohesion and the wellbeing of local people. Promoting an understanding of our shared environment, through engagement with sustainable photography-based creative projects.
Powered by Photo Hub North, CultureCam is a mobile camera obscura, an eco-friendly darkroom, educational space, and a rolling canvas.
CultureCam will travel around the district, working with schools, community groups and the public to make large-scale unique portraits. People featured in the portraits will also join in with the development and printing of their images inside the darkroom using special plant-based chemistry. An archive of the images will be created that represent the people of Bradford during the 2025 City of Culture, culminating in a large-scale public exhibition to celebrate the end of a very special year.
A vibrant, contemporary brand identity was created to appeal to all ages. The graphic treatment represents a camera aperture radial – amplifying light, colour and pattern. The vivid palette works in contrast with black, suggesting the darkroom element of the photographic process. The logotype is set in a bold, accessible sans serif geometric typeface.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Rachael on the branding for CultureCam, our community photography project for Bradford 2025. Her creative vision perfectly captured the essence of our not-for-profit social enterprise, bringing our vision to life through stunning design. The branding has not only elevated the project’s visual appeal but has also helped us connect more deeply with our community. We’re incredibly grateful for her professionalism, talent, and dedication to our cause.”
