Tenners is a mobile application designed to provide a fun-learning environment by superimposing and layering virtual objects over the new GBP 10 banknotes. It is hoped that user would be able to effectively learn the biography, achievements, and the modern tribute of the figures being portrayed; in this case, Jane Austen for Bank of England and Mary Fairfax Somerville for the Royal Bank of Scotland. Tenners is also an attempt to further the use of AR technology combined with everyday item to engage user for educational purposes. Most importantly Tenners was designed with the aim of bringing awareness to the overlooked trove of historical information contained in everyday item, such as Banknotes.
