ABOUT
From falling fruits to a rabbit out of a hat, rora dairy's playful style made for the perfect match for us to create some equally playful animation.
The Brief
Tasked with a 30-second animation for online and cinema, our team collaborated with designer Elisabetta Giordana to bring rora dairy's first animated advertisement to life. The video covers the journey from farm to final product and features an added personal touch with a friendly voice-over from one of rora dairy's founders.
Two social media editions of the animation with alternate compositions were also required and were released alongside the original cinema and online format.
Handcrafted & Digital
We love combining the handcrafted and the digital, which is why we couldn't wait to get Elisabetta's designs moving. We were immediately drawn towards combining hand-drawn and rigged animation as the designs were built out of a mixture of scanned-in drawings and digital illustrations.
Characters such as the cows were drawn frame-by-frame in keeping with Elisabetta's drawing style, whereas most of the other elements were built as digital rigs using cut-out segments from the scanned-in assets.
Movement
Style and movement go hand in hand, and so it was essential that our animation reflected the playful world we were bringing to life.
Plenty of bouncy movement was added to the characters and props, but we had to keep an eye out to make sure we weren't overdoing it. Some character designs can only take so much squash and stretch!
Lots of adjustments were made throughout the animation process to maintain a fun feel without it becoming too silly or strange.
