CONCEPT

Small faith and community organisations are some of the least served by professional digital communications. Three Catholic parishes in Aylesbury (Our Lady of Lourdes, St Joseph's, and St Clare's) were running on fragmented, ageing tools with no shared infrastructure, no reliable email deliverability, and no capacity to pay agency rates. The concept was to build one modern platform serving all three parishes, and then to abstract everything learned into a free, reusable communications framework that any parish or faith charity could adopt without cost. The aim was simple. Take infrastructure normally reserved for organisations with budgets and put it in the hands of those with none.

EXECUTION

The platform was built on WordPress using a Full Site Editing theme, with custom block patterns rather than a page builder so that non-technical parish volunteers could maintain content without breaking the design. Email was rebuilt from the ground up for trust and deliverability, moving the parishes onto SendGrid with correctly configured DMARC so that newsletters and safeguarding notices actually reach inboxes rather than spam folders. The whole platform sits behind Cloudflare for security and performance. A planned integration with diocesan data systems means parish information can be kept current from a single source rather than maintained by hand in multiple places.

The reusable side became the True Light Digital communications framework, released free to the wider Catholic and Christian sector. It packages the build specification, the content structure, and a communications funnel into something a parish with no agency and no budget can pick up and run. Nothing about it is locked to a paid product or service.

RESULTS

The platform now serves three parishes from shared infrastructure that previously did not exist, replacing fragmented tools with one maintainable system. Email deliverability moved from unreliable to properly authenticated, so that time-sensitive parish and safeguarding communications reach their congregations rather than landing in spam. Maintenance that once required technical help is now handled by parish volunteers through the block-based editor, removing the ongoing dependency on paid support. The framework behind it has been released free to the wider Catholic and Christian sector, so the same infrastructure is available to any parish or faith charity without cost.
