ABOUT

I’ve always loved doing work for documentaries and over the years, I’ve done a few sequences for a wide variety of projects, ranging from science to history to sport. Here’s a few documentaries I’ve supplied with infographics, 2D animations, 3D schematics and title cards.

Weird Science / 10 Things To Know About

Weird Science is a short 90 second feature in RTE’s flagship, 10 Things To Know About and I was involved in doing the greenscreening and compositing for series 4. There’s a full breakdown over here.
Josh Brett

Fitness documentary Youtuber Josh Brett approached me some time ago to create some motion design and explainer animations for his channel.

Josh’s work is largely a short form documentary about topics such as the shady world of supplements, how to sleep like an elite athlete, unrealistic body standards, diet cults, the pitiful story of Nauru. Quite interesting on all sides, no matter how much sport you do, or don’t do. Personally, I find the subjects quite interesting so it makes the project a lot easier to do.

So that’s where I came in to illustrate and animate key concepts in time with the voice over – show, don’t tell! One other major project I did with him was in creating close to 80 minutes of motion design to help illustrate and ultimately sell his Body Transformation Workshop, which was a project that lasted several months, and you can catch up on all that here.
Rún na Bóinne

I’ve also done 3D work for TG4, Ireland’s Irish language TV channel and this one was really interesting.
For the non-Irish heads out there, Newgrange is a world-heritage listed archeological site where the sun shines down a stone corridor, 1 day per year on winter solstice. Recently, some gravity wave and radar surveys uncovered a pair of anomolies which hint at another chamber inside the mound. This one was broadcast on TG4 on 21/12/2023… winter solstice… You can watch that one in full here – skip to the 44minute mark if you want to see my epic 3D work.
Wild Amazon

Two separate episodes with the subtitle Savage Realm and the Cradle of Life needed my help to sort them out with epic title cards for their NatGeo Wild shows. And how goddamn epic they are too.
