About me
I have been developing websites and web technologies since 2007, when I did a university module on HTML and CSS and built a simple static website to showcase my portfolio. As part of my University course, I started a small business in my 3rd year with two other students. The company offered a variety of film and music services, and web design work made up most of our business. Since then I have continued to follow web trends and improve my web design and development skill-set.
My main areas of expertise are creating dynamic websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (particularly jQuery) and making these sites cross-browser compatible. I have experience using a variety of CMSs including Wordpress and Fatwire, and I have developed sites in a variety of frameworks, including Wordpress and Magento. I am particularly passionate about web technologies and particularly HTML 5 features, CSS3 styling, cross-browser compatibility and typography.
My experience of the web-design industry has been in a fast paced, target driven website production environment, where keeping to tight deadlines and producing work of a professional standard is a must. As one of the higher level designers and developers at Yell, I have been singled out a number of times to work on special tasks relating to development of the products and maintaining the highest standards of work.
Outside of design, I enjoy films, US TV shows, gaming, running and mountain biking. In my placement year, founding a production company gave me insight into how a business operates from the ground up, and gave me a clear idea of what path I would like my career to take.
