ABOUT
Social harmony is one of the things Japan is most famous for. But it comes at a price. Standing out for any reason can make you a target for bullying. And when you’re of a different ethnic or racial background, you often have no choice but to stand out. The Future Isn’t Waiting features three real-life footballers from diverse backgrounds who use the confidence from playing sports to challenge societal norms. Nike hoped the film would spark a much needed conversation around discrimination and bullying for youth in Japan. What it got was a debate so fiery, it made international headlines.
