About me

During my diploma studies at Cardiff University, I excelled in the
Christmas supplement project, where I successfully promoted Blooms
Garden Centre in a double-page review of possible presents for
Christmas. I conducted research, interviews, wrote all the copy up and
took my own photos before designing the layout using Photoshop. My
tutor awarded me a mark of distinction.

My role as PR Co-ordinator for the Llanfyllin Union Workhouse
required me to drum up media interest during the BBC Restoration
campaign. I placed articles in the local press, managed online content
for our BBC web page, interviewed Sian Lloyd and Lembit Opik and gave
an interview on BBC Radio Wales. I was singled out for special praise
during my fortnightly presentations to the trustees.

During work experience at the South Wales Argus I showed initiative
by endeavouring to explore my own potential leads. I decided to
research obesity levels in Gwent, unearthing shocking statistics for
the news angle and conducting challenging interviews with obesity
sufferers before writing a lengthy expose to a tight deadline. The
editor used it for her front page splash the following week.

An IQ Research project I headed required me to gather in-depth
information on the four top clearing banks for a rival competitor. I
carried out extensive interviews to build up an exhaustive account of
the various banks' structures, before collating and organising
the information into a coherent presentation for the MD. I was awarded
a financial bonus for the results I provided.
