ABOUT

Grimaldi Creative Studio works with many of the main players across a wide range of industries, delivering targeted, custom-made solutions that enable our clients to maximize their ROI while remaining one step ahead of the competition. When engaging with a client, we strive to highlight the strengths and uniqueness of the product they offer, seeking out unique selling points, and conveying why their solution is the best choice.
One of the many examples of the projects that Grimaldi Creative Studios has worked on is a custom-made 3D animation for an investigational compound, (a beta secretase cleaving enzyme (BACE 1) inhibitor), which has proven effective in reducing plasma beta-amyloid levels. Beta-amyloids are pieces of protein which have been associated with AD and therefore a reduction in the concentrations of these protein pieces could potentially lead to the alleviation of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
AD gradually erodes the brain’s cognitive abilities, which results in a steady decline of cognition and memory, leading to behavioural alterations, problems with spoken communication, disorientation, and many other issues which ultimately result in death. The median survival after diagnosis is three to nine years. The exact mechanism that gives rise to the causes of AD is not fully understood, but prior to the disease’s onset, Amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques accumulate in the brain. BACE 1 is an enzyme known to be responsible for the production of Aβ peptides.
The BACE 1 inhibiting drug being developed in this instance works by inhibiting the production of Aβ40 and Aβ42 peptides in the brain, thus reducing Aβ concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid, which could lead to the improvement of symptoms and slow the disease’s progression.
Our 3D animation initially demonstrates the formation process of Beta-amyloid and then explains the mechanism of action of the investigational compound. The compound has shown a favourable safety profile in early phase I and phase II trials and has recently been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) to enter phase III trials.
