About me
London-based British-Iraqi Arabic translator, interpreter, media researcher, and
screenwriter with more than twenty years of experience supporting international
journalists, broadcasters, production companies, NGOs, and cultural organisations.
A native Arabic speaker with advanced academic and professional English, supported
by an MA in Screenwriting from Birkbeck, University of London, and an MA in Acting
from the University of Plymouth.
Since 2003, I have provided Arabic-English and English-Arabic translation, interpreting,
transcription, subtitling, editorial research, and production support for organisations
including the BBC, ITV, Guardian Films, Breakthrough Media, and International Sports
Broadcasting.
My screenwriting education and production background enable me to work confidently
with scripts, interviews, documentaries, editorial material, dialogue, treatments,
subtitles, and culturally sensitive content. I translate not only words, but also tone,
intention, humour, emotion, and cultural context for English- and Arabic-speaking
audiences.
