About me
With 39 years of experience in the building industry I have specialized in repairing and renovating older homes by repairing cracked walls using helical rods, investigating causes of damp penetration and working towards making Victorian properties safer and more comfortable to live in.
In 1997 Homes & Gardens magazine featured my renovation of a derelict country church near Canterbury into a comfortable family home using natural materials and traditional joinery featuring gothic arches. The magazine article was titled "Gothic Restoration".
My work was featured in the same magazine a few months later following the completion of a new kitchen and traditional Victorian style bathroom.
In 2008 my structural repair works to St Peter's church were featured on the manufacturer's website as a Case Study after an earthquake caused extensive structural damage to the South Transept stone wall requiring 200 metres of stainless steel reinforcing rods and Cemties to reinforce and strengthen the damaged church walls.
Kent County Council awarded my business with the 'Blue Leaf' award as part of the STEM accreditation for sustainability.
In 2022 my business was awarded 'Best Builder UK 2022 - category Kent renovations' by magazine.
Last year I was honoured to receive the Town Mayor's Community Award for helping train young people and help them acquire traditional renovation skills and for my volunteering work mentoring and supporting disadvantaged individuals with a Local Canterbury based charity.
I am a member of Heritage Crafts and I've had the honour of a trainee female Stonemason being nominated for a Heritage skills award which was proposed by Stephanie Karpetas OBE. The trainee appeared in the Heritage Crafts national newsletter for her outstanding contribution to lime mortar renovation work on an ancient timber framed Tudor Hall House near Canterbury.
