ABOUT
Client Brief and Objectives: After more than a decade without PR support, Rangemaster was preparing to launch its first-ever TV campaign and wanted earned media to give the brand a fresh voice.
Rather than leading with product features, the ambition was to reconnect with modern families by showing that Rangemaster understood the realities of everyday life. The goal was to create a campaign that generated national conversation while positioning its kitchens as spaces made for living, not perfection.
Strategy and Creativity: Instead of talking about kitchens, we talked about what happens inside them.
Our insight was that parents increasingly feel pressure to maintain picture-perfect homes, fuelled by social media and unrealistic expectations. We challenged that narrative with Room for More Mess, a campaign celebrating the lived-in kitchen and encouraging parents to embrace the everyday chaos that comes with raising children.
Research, expert psychological commentary and authentic parenting stories all supported one simple message: a messy home isn't a failure, it's often a sign of a happy family.
Method Deployed: We commissioned consumer research exploring attitudes towards household mess and partnered with a child psychologist to explain the positive impact untidy environments can have on children's creativity, confidence and wellbeing.
To bring the story to life, we worked with a parenting influencer who shared an honest look at the familiar "5pm chaos" experienced by families every day. Campaign photography, behind-the-scenes content and expert commentary gave media compelling visual assets while naturally showcasing Rangemaster products in real family settings.
The campaign was rolled out across parenting, lifestyle, interiors and national media, transforming a kitchen brand into the centre of a much broader conversation about modern family life.
Outcome and Formal Results Evaluation: Room for More Mess successfully gave Rangemaster a distinctive voice within earned media, proving the brand could lead conversations beyond appliances and product launches.
The campaign generated 197 pieces of earned coverage, including eight national features across Metro, The Sun and Daily Express. Every article communicated a key brand message, every piece of visual coverage featured Rangemaster products, and 85% of online coverage included backlinks, strengthening both awareness and digital visibility.
Most importantly, the campaign repositioned Rangemaster as a brand that genuinely understands modern family life, helping reintroduce the business to earned media after more than ten years away.
