ABOUT
This project was created for a special edition of Psychologie Magazine, exploring how stress shows up in both the body and mind.
The brief was to visualise stress in a way that felt approachable without leaning overly dramatic or fearful. The art direction called for stress to be represented as flowing, organic shapes that are moving through and around the body.
I was commissioned to create two single page illustrations and one full spread for the editorial.
My approach was to treat stress as something that moves as opposed to something that attacks. The surrounding forms appear as soft, abstract shapes but shift in colour as they come into contact with the body. Areas of red signal where stress is being held or felt physically, allowing the viewer to read the image intuitively.
The colour palette was predefined, working with layered tones of pink, blue, green and orange. I used these to create contrast between the external environment and the internal response.
The final illustrations sit within a text heavy layout and support the informative article.
