About me

Whatever I did made life a little more colourful, I like to think: I started off as a scenic artist at a German theatre, also worked on illustrations and drawings for archaeological publications and museums, before I went for a degree in Colour Design at Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences.

I certainly don't blame anyone for not knowing any other colour designers around - it is practically the only degree course on colour theory and mainly architectural colour design anywhere in Europe, and they admitted only 6 of us per year!

With graduation ceremony I had my first proper job, to head a design studio in Cologne where I worked on both industrial buildings and private properties, and did mostly architectural colour designs, plus a few colour schemes and strategies.

With the family growing, I went into lecturing at the German equivalent of a College of Further Education, teaching on what would be national diploma or foundation course level, and later also lectured on colour and design for media design undergraduates at university.

To add the historical dimension to my work with colours

- and avoid a computer overdosis, I suppose! -

I also completed a postgraduate diploma in heritage conservation and management.
