Concept
The primary concept behind this project was to create a 3-D immersive web experience that allows users to explore the behind-the-scenes world of KidSuper, a Brooklyn-based fashion brand. The idea was to offer a virtual journey through the shop, providing deeper insights into the brand’s story and creative process.
This digital experience was intended to cater to local customers and global enthusiasts, enhancing their connection to KidSuper beyond its products.
Execution
To bring this concept to life, the project began with a vivid painting of KidSuper’s Brooklyn store exterior, which serves as the entry point into a 3-D environment. Inside, users can navigate through different scenes using a portal-based system, ensuring smooth transitions and an immersive experience. The site features interactive elements that allow users to engage with the products, such as changing colors and rotating them for a detailed view. Additionally, visitors can play tunes and admire animated paintings, enhancing the overall interactive experience.
From a technical perspective, the project incorporated custom shaders to create brush effects that reveal content on mouse movement. A custom component was developed to render scenes as textures, including advanced features like resizing and pausing renders. The team also enabled users to share their live drawings on social media using Vercel Storage solutions. Overcoming challenges like the transition from 3-D software to WebGL, the team improved their collaboration and technical proficiency.
Result
The result is a visually rich and engaging website that successfully extends the KidSuper brand experience into the digital realm. Users can explore the shop in a way that feels interactive and personal, with seamless navigation and engaging interactive elements. The project has deepened the connection between KidSuper and its audience by providing an immersive glimpse into the brand’s creative world.
The site not only showcases products but also highlights the artistic and innovative spirit of KidSuper, reinforcing its identity and appeal to both local and global audiences.
