Embarking on my journey in Visual Arts at a university in the United States, I found myself drawn to the intricate world of production through an early internship as a camera technician. These experiences provided me with a better understanding of diverse camera systems and curiosity that continues to drive my passion for the craft. Outside the classroom, I also pursued online courses on platforms like Mzed and LinkedIn, recognizing the importance of constantly expanding my knowledge base to stay prepared for future opportunities.
My passion for the role of a first assistant cameraman, especially in the intricate art of focus pulling, has been incredibly fulfilling and has defined much of my career journey. From beginnings as a freelancer to the challenges encountered on union sets, each moment has been a lesson in humility and perseverance. Collaborating closely with cinematographers and fellow crew members, I've grown to appreciate how personalities and expertise blend together within the camera department, creating a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere. Exploring new shooting locations has been an enlightening journey, filled with moments of humility and discovery. The experiences of working out of town have taught me invaluable lessons.
