In September 2018, fifty hand-painted, adorable snail sculptures appeared on the streets of my adopted hometown of Brighton and Hove.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this is the kind of mad hallucinatory experience you’d expect to hear from the jabbering mouth of a Brighton artist.

But no, this was the real deal….

This was the Snailspace Snail Trail. A public art exhibition where a bunch of highly talented artists, chosen by sponsors, painted large fibre-glass snails to be displayed on civvy street, before going to auction to raise funds for Martlets Hospice.
