About me

I am currently a Support Worker in Social Care at Garvald Centre, Edinburgh. My main job responsibility is to help the inmates with their daily tasks. I also conduct 'Art Therapy' sessions as part of social therapy initiatives available to the inmates.

From 2004 to 2007 I was a Resident Tutor and Artist in Residence at St.Bees School, Cumbria. My responsibilities included teaching Art to all year groups. My teaching included working in different media like.... I helped my students plan and develop their ideas and made them familiar with new and traditional techniques. It helped them bring out their artistic potential to the fullest and some of my students achieved excellent grades at GCSE, AS & A2. As house tutor I had developed my pastoral skills and enjoyed the company of the pupils on my house, sharing experiences and offering help and guidance where I can.

Before St Bees School, I taught at Radley College as an Art Teacher from 2001 to 2004. I also taught evening classes at Edinburgh College of Art. My experience has provided me a thorough introduction to school teaching, including the reporting and assessing of pupils work.

While at St. Bees School and Radley College, I was involved in the wider aspects of school life, helping with CCF camping weekends, taking boys on theatre and gallery visits as well as attending Chapel services and accompanying trips abroad. I was also involved in boarding house duties being a sub-tutor. I taught Yr.9 -Yr.13 pupils at St Benedict's Roman Catholic School as an art teacher for a term in 2006. This experience gave me a valuable insight into teaching in a state run school.

I have been running and organising workshops for the Children's Parliament in Edinburgh. This has involved bringing Junior School children together from all parts of the Scottish community, working with them to produce artwork based on their own identity.
