Momentum was tasked to redesign ResourceX’s priority-based budgeting platform. ResourceX is a company dedicated to empowering local governments with the tools to implement priority-based budgeting. The ResourceX team is advancing their web-based tool to be adapted by a wider group of users and asked Momentum to conduct user research and redesign the web-based budgeting software.

The goal of this redesign project was to make it easier for government budgeting teams to allocate resources in alignment with community goals, while also addressing pressing challenges such as climate change, homelessness, equity, and sustainability.

In order to do this, we gained a deeper understanding of the users, defined a scalable interaction model, and re-designed the software interface to enhance the user experience. Through thoughtful and innovative design, we transformed a complex and data-intensive process into a user-friendly platform with improved usability.

Momentum’s redesign of the ResourceX platform has had a significant impact on local government budgeting. By enabling the alignment of budgeting with strategic priorities and community goals, while also taking into account constraints such as funding requirements, we revolutionized the budgeting process. The improved user interface and reduced workload for the budgeting team make the platform easier to use, while still maintaining its effectiveness.
