About me

I am an ambitious creative trying to make my way in the world. I love thinking up solutions and creating original artwork. I really enjoy learning new things, thinking up ideas and exercising my brain.
In May 2023, I started a part-time Masters Degree in Graphic Design to give myself a boost, learn, and hopefully have a more prosperous outlook. It is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
My background education was originally in textile design, although I had some years out being a full-time mum. For the past eight years, I have been working as a globemaker. The globes are handcrafted traditionally by applying paper gores to a sphere. Whilst enjoyable for a time and with great flexibility to fit in with a young family, I have recently been finding it monotonous and think I have more design ideas within me than to wither away into the dusty bowl of a facsimile globe. I am now ready to spread my wings and fly off into the creative sunset of my future.

My go-to tool is Adobe Illustrator. I just love to draw and play with it. The lines, images, and accuracy that Illustrator forms fill me with joy. I also enjoy rolling up my sleeves to make physical objects alongside designing digitally. However, I am acutely aware of the amount of 'stuff' already in the world. I don't want to add to the pile of useless things discarded in landfills or plastic wrap to the geological landscape that is our sad legacy to the future. Environment, materials and human consumption are vital to me.

I recently found out I am dyslexic. I may be unable to spell or construct a sentence (Hurrah for Grammarly), but I have a passion for language. I find the number of different ways of saying the same thing in the English language fascinating. Since I was a child, I remember enjoying browsing through a thesaurus; dictionaries do not hold the same interest for me. I like to create subtle, hidden messages that aren't necessarily in your face obvious.
I am a visual thinker; my mind sees in pictures, which is great for ideas but can be a pain when listening to certain music.
