About me
Hey there, my name is Christian Harries and I'm a senior product designer based in London.
As I'm sure you're very busy I've kept this high-level for now.
A bit about me
- I've been practicing for 9+ years in areas including finance, education and health.
- I used to co-run a design/development studio for 2 years helping early-stage businesses make MVPs for crowdfunding campaigns, investor pitching and growth post-funding.
- I love a good dad joke, the bigger the cringe the better!
What makes me tick
- Ever since I was a kid I've always looked at the world and asked why things are the way they are. Since graduating I've picked up a lot of skills from product management to writing to front-end development while maintaining my core of understanding problems, creating solutions validated by data and iterating based on real user feedback.
How do I work
- I'm a bit of a perfectionist however I reign myself in by making sure definitions of done and timelines are clear.
- I like to work in a very agile way. Depending on project needs I adapt my process from siloed to collaborative working & quick scrum testing/learning to organized waterfall roadmaps.
- I'm a big planner, ever since I was a kid my dad instilled in me the "6Ps" Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Excuse my French!
Why me
- For me, Agile isn't just a way to deliver work it's a way of working. I listen to the people I'm working with, learn how I can improve both personally and professionally and take action. The product management course I took with Experience Haus came from a need to understand PM's mental models so we could collaborate better
- Having both run a business and worked in-house I've had a lot of experience understanding not just the user side of product but the business side, from stakeholder management and prioritization to balancing revenue generation projects with iterating on existing user experiences and improving internal processes.
- 1/3 of our lives are spent at work and while of course, we're here to work hard and we may have the occasional late-night, to me work shouldn't just be a means to an end it should be fun, exciting and feel like we're a team. 70% of employees leave a job because of stress or bad managers, I'd help create an environment where people's mental health is valued just as much as their productivity.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you best assess me for this position.
