SIMON BIOGRAPHY.

Simon Dickson Lukumay, Mwarusha, Christian (Lutheran). I am a third child in a family of seven children, two females and five males. I was born on 15/05/1982 in the Arusha region in the Kimnyaki district. Two years later, in 1984, we moved to Simajiro district, Ndukusi village, Loikisalye ward, Arusha region before being divided into two regions, Arusha and Manyara.

I received my primary education at Ndukusi Primary School. I joined the Primary School in old age because most of the boys' herders were responsible for herding cattle, goats, sheep and donkeys. Despite my late start to school, I loved reading so much that I could do well in school with my friend, who is also from the pastoralism society, Kuyai Mollel. Later, Ally Athumani, who repeated the class, was selected to join Moita Bwawani secondary school.

My classmate Tobias Laizer had a Yashica camera when I was at school. He used to take pictures of us, print and sell them to us. I was fascinated by this kind of photography work. Due to my parents' lack of a strong economy, my willingness to go to school, fees were tough to pay; I studied with great difficulty and hardship. Finally, I graduated the Form Four in 2003.

After graduation, I went to a busy Arusha city where I did the menial work like digging ditches, carrying concrete, and all the hard work, you know. I joined the textile factory A to Z . While here, I still desired to have a camera. There was a young man I used to see him taking pictures at work using his Yashica camera, Juma Nguzo. I'm a quick learner, so I went through short work training. After that, I became a mechanic, and later I was promoted to a mechanic's department supervisor in this textile factory.

From the bit of the savings I had, in 2008 to 2010, I joined a computer college, JR institute of technology. With the labouring work after college hours, I managed to pay my college fees. In 2013 I was hired by a supermarket in Arusha (Shoprite Supermarket groups LTD). I went through different positions as a leader and even from my profession. I managed to buy my first camera, Sony digital camera (Coolpix 5 mag Pixels). I started photographing my co-workers, customers as well as products. My photography skills and ability grew up since photography was my passion. I began to be recognized by many.
From 2014 to date, I have done a lot of photography works locally and internationally. I have been a teacher of photography editing courses at the Elimu Lab College Mwanza.
I have worked in photography work for many organizations. Includes Shoprite Supermarket groups LTD, East African Court of Justice, Gabriella Rehabilitation centre, Share Tanzania and CCBRT, to mention a few.

I have been a drone instructor for individuals and several governmental and private institutions. One of them is Enduimet Wildlife Management Area (WMA). I have used cameras like Yashica, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Samsung, GoPro, DJI, Panasonic and many others models available in the market.
By using the camera, I have become a voice for the voiceless. In contrast, many have benefited, including me.
Some of the photography genres I participated Includes;

Wedding, Architectural, Humanitarian, Travel, Fashion, Real Estate, Commercial, Event, Portrait and FineArt Photography
