About me

Vegan for the environment - Problems Solver - Multi-award winning Film Director.

Edilberto Restino, Sociologist and Politic Scientist, is a multi-award-winning film director.

Vegan since he was 17 years old, Edilberto films and books express the awareness to respect all sentient beings. When he was fighting in rings, his coach used to get annoyed with him, telling him that he would die in the ring if he did not eat meat.

From January of 2018 to end of 2019, ED was living with monks in a Buddhist Tibetan monastery, learning meditation and mindfulness.

As a sociologist, he was invited by the environmental organization Projeto Planeta Verde in São Paulo and became their director of communication for 13 years. He was as well vice-president of SOS Fauna Brazil for 5 years, an organization that fights against poachers and wild traffic in the Brazilian forests. The repercussion of those works brought him the invitation to run as the candidate for the State Deputy elections for São Paulo State and MP elections in São Paulo city.

In 2007 in the UK, he wrote, produced, directed and did the cinematography for "Red Letter" (a pilot for the feature "Timeless Eye"). As stated on IMDB, Red Letter inspired three major films in Hollywood. "Red Letter" became the first short film from Brighton Film Studios to be chosen by the British Society of Cinematographers and it was premiered at the British Society of Cinematographers at Pinewood Studios New Cinematographers Night in 2008.

"Red Letter" has won 13 awards from film festivals across the UK and USA, nominated more than 60 times, including winning Best Director three times, and winning twice the Best Visual/Cinematography, Best Set Design, best editing, and three times Best Short Film. It was shortlisted for Student Academy Awards.

In 2015, he won the Best Director Award for Bridge Over Blue at Rob Knox Film Festival.

He did the cinematography of the feature movie "The Scandalous Four" in 2009, and it was awarded in 2011 at British Independent Film Festival and in California International Film Festival.

In 2009/10, Restino directed and produced "A Brunette Kiss", marking his first collaboration with Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck and multi-award winning cinematographer Tony Imi.

"A Brunette Kiss" won Best Director Award at Rob Knox Film Festival 2011, the Best Visual Award at Limelight Film Awards, London 2010, The Grand Prix Award, plus other 2 Awards at The EOTP International Film Festival 2011/12.

Restino started his career as a fashion photographer and an actor. Worked in advertisements for many years, he started when he was only 15 years old, has directed plays and wrote books.
