As one of Ferraris main sponsors Shell had high expectations of the content they could use for their own campaigns. But they weren't particularly blown away by their own catalogue of shots. They wanted more and better.
For obvious reasons a high percentage of the shots were from the side of the track. I told them they needed to get me on a track in front of a car. Within weeks I had 2 of Londons best sports photographers hanging out the back of a hire car with me at the end of the pit lane on Ferraris very own test track in Mugello, Florence.
We had one lap at 70 mph (as stand in safety car) to get our shots. About 3 minutes. I swear none of us even breathed. It was truly exhilarating.
