ABOUT
BRIEF
Natural England, the government’s advisor on the natural environment, aimed to empower strategic planning by prioritising health, wellbeing, nature, and sustainability outcomes. To achieve this, they developed the EXPLORE Toolkit—an interdisciplinary decision-support framework designed to bring sectors together, support integrated planning, and bridge the gap between technical knowledge and real-world solutions. They sought a cohesive, accessible identity for the toolkit to unify its diverse elements and support its mission to help people and the environment thrive.
CONCEPT
To bring EXPLORE to life, we designed an identity system that gave the toolkit a consistent and engaging look and feel. With input from multiple stakeholders, we ensured that every element—whether part of the digital platform or workshop materials—felt interconnected and approachable. The goal? A modern, flexible identity that fosters collaboration and underscores the toolkit’s purpose of building healthier, more sustainable futures.
EXECUTION
We crafted a versatile identity for the EXPLORE Toolkit that tied together all its components. This included: a logo, colour palette that embodied nature and sustainability while staying modern and professional, a suite of iconography to represent different toolkit areas, templates for workshops to ensure clarity and consistency in presentations along with a card deck, highlighting key drivers and pressures, designed to spark engagement and collaboration in planning sessions.
RESULTS
The EXPLORE Toolkit is a visually cohesive, user-friendly resource, which is active in use and receives positive feedback from stakeholders.
