About me

I graduated in 2007 with a 2:1 BA degree in Linguistics and have recently completed an MLitt; a Masters degree by research. I am now seeking a career in proofreading or editing.

I am highly enthusiastic about language in all its forms and my knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style is solid and detailed. I have taught undergraduate seminars on various aspects of linguistics, and I am passionate about transmitting accurate and practical information. In my free time I enjoy writing on a variety of topics, both fiction and non-fiction. I am always exacting with regard to clarity of language and focus of content.

My ability to verify facts has been tested and enhanced by both my study and my work. Linguistics is a young field and much of the literature benefits from further investigation. My Masters degree was entirely research-based, resulting in self-disciplined investigation into facts and hypotheses.

My part-time employment in the Education School at Newcastle University involved communicating with schools, documentary analysis, writing case reports as well as accurate and secure organisation of protected data. The proofreading that I currently do has been attested for its extreme accuracy and attention to detail. I have worked on a number of topics, both within and outside my expertise, and I am able to confidently alter language to better suit a variety of audiences.
