About me
Problem-solving though creativity and innovation has always been the focus of his career and passion. Masaya was born in Sapporo Japan and graduated from Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a Master's Degree in Advertising. Soon after starting his professional career as an Art Director at TBWA\HAKUHODO Tokyo in 2007, he was awarded the best young creative in Asia, bringing home the Young Lotus trophy. He then spent a year at TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles under the agency's creative exchange program. Upon completion in 2009, he joined TBWA\Media Arts Lab in Tokyo, where he spent 3 years leading the global localization for Apple campaigns. In 2012, Masaya relocated to Los Angeles to join TBWA\Media Arts Lab, to lead various global campaign initiations for Apple as a Creative Director. One of his most recognized projects is Shot on iPhone - World Gallery, for which he won Cannes Lions Outdoor Grand Prix. After 6 years and over 150 projects, Masaya retuned to TBWA\HAKUHODO Tokyo in 2017. He is currently working as a Global Creative Director for UNIQLO in charge of its global branding and communication. He is currently working on social impact projects that spread the message of Paralympic sports to the world, as well as exploring how creativity can help improve the plight of refugees living in the some of the harshest and neglected conditions on the planet with United Nations. Masaya has won over 100 international awards, including Cannes Lions Grand Prix, Grand Clio, The One Show Gold, New York ADC Gold, D&AD Graphite Pencil, Tokyo ADC Awards and Young Lotus of the Year.
