About me

My name is Naomi Gumede; I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Motion picture medium obtained from AFDA Durban Film School. An enthusiastic and original 2D/3D modeller/digital designer/film maker from Durban South Africa.

I have freelanced as an assistant in camera and editing for New Media and various projects, I have gained experience in clothing brand video shoots, food shoots, editing for brand videos e.t.c. I recently finish a LGBTQIA+ documentary following a transgender womxn's journey, as the editor, sound designer and assistant camera.

I have developed a broad range of design skills and feel comfortable in any design environment, whether using Photoshop, MAYA or simply illustrating by hand. When I studied overseas, for roughly a year at The Art institute of Atlanta, I relished the opportunity to prove and improve myself in a completely foreign environment and also managed to learn a huge amount from immersing myself in a culture which introduced me to a wide variety of new influences and references. I have also developed editing, cinematography and directing skills as a result of my time at film school.

I hope an opportunity with your company would prove to be a similar experience if not grander and in turn I would be able to offer your team my own unique approach to creative design, which takes inspiration from my culture, music, poetry and everyday experiences. When I work on a project I give it my full commitment and I often find that encountering challenges only helps stimulate me and encourages me to produce my best work. I also love working in a team because it allows me to "bounce" my ideas off other people and then work together to assemble a final product, using all the different skill sets everybody brings to the table.

I have been passionate about creating and designing for most of my life and I would love to continue this journey with a company or gigs, which shares my passion and will give me the platform to enjoy, expand and express myself.
