ABOUT

Early sponsorship graphics on race cars were a little basic but they do add a certain charm to the subject. This Ferrari was a bit of a brute, a big, powerful motor in a crude chassis with drum brakes must have made it a huge challenge over the 3000 miles of the Mexican road race.
I thought I would capture the curves of this beast from a front elevated viewpoint so I could reveal the engine and still display the graphics and present the shark style nose.
A lot of research goes into one of these historic car portraits, period shots are usually quite poor so some of the details may not be quite as per the original.
All produced within Photoshop using basic tools, pen, brushes and masking layers.
