About me
As someone who has just entered his twenties, I grew up with the internet and everything that comes with it. Because of this, I have become an expert in social media use and how optimise social media in order to get the best results. I have watched social media and its users adapt in many different ways and know the things which users like to engage with, and the things they don't.
During my time at university I was part of a social media campaign to help promote the work of Crisis, a non-profit organisation helping homeless people. My role within the group was social media management, creating and scheduling the social media strategy for the campaign. Throughout this time, I learnt the essentials in campaign management and scheduling, managing four different social media channels and understanding the importance of adapting tone for different audiences who used our website, social media or newsletter as well as adapting our campaign to fit around when we would get the most engagement from our viewers.
I am a great team player, making sure to be effective with my communication in order for all parties involved to understand the message I want to send. Along with this I understand the importance of a positive environment when working with others by being compassionate and understanding, as well as a thorough listener and being inclusive to what others have to say. My time creating the social media campaign 'Layer of Hope' helped me improve upon all these skills by working closely in a team of 7 people who all had great ideas for what the campaign could be. Through good communication and supporting one another, we were able to create a great campaign which was sent off to the university Vice Chancellor as an example of great work.
Along with this social media campaign, I also managed 4 other modules and a dissertation in my final year. Thankfully with good planning and management, I managed to create work of a great standard, receiving a 78 on my final media project, as well as a 65 on my dissertation. I have experience in coding websites, WordPress, photo and video editing applications such as Photoshop and a proficiency in English.
While many skills have been learnt at university, I have learnt some valuable skills during times of employment. My time as a sales assistant improved my confidence and attitude due to the conversations I would have with customers and colleagues. By creating small talk with customers, I was able to become more confident in myself rather than shy away and as a result of this I became more sociable at work, making me a better employee to work with, and someone that others would talk to if they had any trouble.
