About me

I am a 3D generalist and modeller with a major focus within Maya and subsidiary skills in Z brush, Mud-box, substance painter, Nuke, Photoshop, Aftereffects, premiere pro, Arnold, Red-shift and some knowledge of Houdini. I have always been interested in creating realistic and believable assets, whilst working to push and further develop my skills. During my time studying I did not have access to as much software as other establishments, primarily being just Maya. This naturally ingrained into me a desire to push the skills I could develop as well as going out of my way to utilise other software to further increase the quality of my work. During this time and also within my current position at work, I have been able to independently problem solve and organise my work so that it can fit into a pipeline in the most optimal way possible.

For three years I studied in Multimedia and design which focused on all aspects of the creative industry, where I spent my time exploring a wide variety of skills. Here I started exploring the capabilities of Auto-desk suite, and I often worked on combining this with my skills as a graphic designer in Photoshop and Aftereffects, when I started to discover my passion for working within the realm of 3D. I did so for three years, whilst also working as an intern for a design company, allowing me to see firsthand the back and forth between presenting work in progress to clientele and the development of the final product.

For the past 7 months I have been working as a 3D modeller for 422South in Bristol. For this position I would receive references for desired assets which I would have to recreate to be as realistic as possible with our current setup. During my time at 422 I would create clean and optimal assets to be utilised by other parts of the pipeline so that changes could be made with ease whilst I was in constant communication with the clients and the Director. My process of creating an asset would involve a focus on clean topology and UVs for high quality displacement and texture maps, this proved to be key as the company has recently dipped its toes into 3D and is still trying to find its most optimal pipeline.

The project that I have been working on to date is the second season of Drain the Ocean by National Geographic. During this project I have been working with the team to create hero assets for the episodes, primarily focusing on hard surface. Because of the nature of the show, it meant I had to heavily focus on realism and detail as all the assets made had real life counterparts. With a focus on hard-surface modelling, during my hours off from work I have been studying online courses on anatomy and also I have been picking up and learning new software at any chance I can, my eventual goal is to become a character artist as this has been a dream of mine ever since I jumped into the world of 3D.
