OCBCCares has embarked on reforestation projects in Malaysia and Singapore to combat climate change. The focus of these projects is to plant eighteen thousand mangrove trees that are expected to absorb a staggering 30 million kilograms of CO2.
Despite their relatively small size, mangrove trees are known to be incredibly effective at carbon sequestration. In fact, studies have shown that mangrove trees are three times more efficient at absorbing carbon than other types of trees.
To raise awareness about the importance of this initiative, we needed to dramatise the effectiveness of carbon absorption.
We employed CGI to create a visualisation of carbon emissions. Black balloons were used to depict the carbon emissions coming out of vehicles' exhausts and factory chimneys. The balloons were then shown to settle in the mangrove forest, where they are naturally absorbed into the trees.
The result is an intriguing commercial highlighting the benefits of mangrove trees in carbon sequestration and OCBCCares' commitment to mitigating climate change.
