About me

I am an Irish citizen, resident in London. I studied Fine Art, Sculpture, Media and Art History at Limerick School of Art and Design, and graduated with a first class honours degree. I received The NSF Graduate Residency Award upon my graduation on the merit of my finale work. I have just completed my Masters degree in Performance Making and Design at Goldsmiths University of London. Over the course of my academic training I have received not only a wide range of creative and technical making skills but I have also developed exceptional research and critical skills, as well as the management, administrative and organisational skills required to produce live performance and arts events as part of curatorial teams.

While undertaking my artist residency (before commencing my Masters degree) I worked as a production assitant for one of Ireland's most renowned theatre companys as they undertook a trilogy of site specific interpretations of Edna Walsh's work . During my time in this position my role was extremely flexible, adapting to support the needs of the production from one day to the next. Some of my reposonsibilites in this postion included: Assisting producers, designers and technicians by sourcing and collecting props and materials, constructing props (often large scale technical installations), Set decorating, compiling and processing receipts, arranging couriers and transport. Additionally I was given opportunities to help devise scenographic elements of the piece and was given the sole responsibility of designing video installations for the set. I have over three years' experience as an assistant in a fine art gallery (Ormston house, Cultural and Resource Centre, Limerick) during my time in this position my role was flexible, giving me a broad understanding of all the administration and management duties involved in running a contemporary arts organisation.

I am passionate about facilitating art practices, while studying I helped initiated an open forum for local sculpture and architecture students to share ideas and develop collaborative projects involving 3D printing and computer aided design. I've been dedicated to developing public opening visual art exhibitions, theatre festivals, workshops and networking events for fellow artists and students throughout my Undergraduate, Masters and thereafter. During these projects, I have involved myself heavily in the programming, fund raising, design (marketing teams and working as part of the editorial team for exhibition catalogues) as well as physical preparation of sites (from rights to public access, licensing, structural preparations). I commend myself on having displayed excellent administrative and communication skills and a high standard of organisation in both professional and academic environments while collaborating across disciplines and cultures during these processes.

My formal educational training and skills include a broad knowledge in the practical skills of diverse material manipulation; lens based media; photography and film studio lighting; digital sound recording and manipulation; still and moving image production and editing; large scale sculpture production. Creative, critical, technical and management skills and strategies in designing live art and theatre. I have broad and intuitive computer skills including a familiarity with a number of specialised programs and software e.g. Photoshop, Adobe video and sound editing programmes, Abelton, audacity, CAD, 3D printing, some coding and well as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Extremely efficient and literate across all social media platforms. I possess a strong critical facility; conceptual and theoretical skills to execute original performance material from a theoretically-informed perspective; identifying my own practice within the historical and contemporary field, writing critically and creatively and contextualising practices within their social, political and architectural environment.
