ABOUT

I've created 6 uniquely framed prints. They are one of a kind. I selected a few of my favourite photographs of my city, Port Elizabeth. Each photograph is printed on archival Hahnemuhle textured paper. The texture of the paper adds a beautiful quality to the photographs, complimenting their personalities. The prints were hand cut and pieced together. I designed and created the frames to have no top border. In doing this, I aimed at allowing the colour and texture of your home or office walls to come through and become part of the artwork. Natural shadows from the print and laser-cut backing board creates a 3 dimensional effect. My aim for this design was to allow for changing and diverse elements like light and texture to play a role in the visual experience of the piece. I only hope that these pieces allow for your walls to tell stories of my city and bring a unique visual quality to your home. Perhaps allow for new stories and unique moments to be created.

There's something about Central. I moved to a suburb in central in my university years. I loved it. The creative hub, the diversity, the electric hum of the working, city people. When I drive the highway in central, it's a visual experience for me every time. I think about the people driving to and from work. We cross paths. Cars drive above us, below us, next to us. I wonder if other drivers absorb the surroundings as much as I do? That single, avocado-looking tree that continuously sits on the edge of that one spot on the highway. How is it surviving? Where are the roots? The narrow opening between the top and lower highway gives you a passing window of windows. Windows of all different shapes, all different interiors, all different stories. The colours of the buildings is my favourite part. They work together so well as if they are purposefully the colour scheme of the city. The juxtaposition of old versus new thrives in Central. It's like driving past conversations between the older generation and the younger. Both giving each other advice, telling stories, arguing, sharing, and shaking hands.

This is my view of Central, for you.
