Education and Qualifications

University Of Central Lancashire ()

BA (Hons) Journalism: 2:1

3rd Year Dissertation: Image Consultancy: Its Influence on the broadsheet newspaper reporting of elite sport.

This industry respected 3-year degree course provided an excellent insight and practical introduction into the Journalism industry and wider media world. A wide range of modules covered topics including: Magazine, newspaper feature and news reporting writing. In addition an in depth examination of the Sociology and history of UK and World Journalism and Media Law. An introduction to digital media was also heavily endorsed with modules including Online, Radio and Television Journalism.

The degree encouraged and fostered both creative and analytical writing, with importance placed on content and accuracy. During the three years I was regularly assessed on verbal presentations, articles and essays. My final year Dissertation was a 14,000 word thesis examining the Image Consultancy industry; a hybrid medium that includes Media Management, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing and contemporary Journalism. I found the subject and its associated issues both interesting and relevant to the modern media world.

In addition to the demands of the degree I was active in contributing to the University fortnightly magazine, website and student council.
