ABOUT
DESPUTIN: The man who in the late 90's talked about reforms, free elections, freedom of expression, human rights and the rotation of power. But power corrupts.
The Russian author Vladimir Sorokin says that "In Russia, power is like a pyramid. The pyramid was built in the 16th century by Ivan the Terrible - an ambitious, brutal tsar who was paranoid and also had a number of other vices. Using his private army - the uprising - he divided the Russian state bloody and brutally into power and the people, friend and foe. The gap between them became like a deep moat. His friendship with the Golden Horde convinced him that there was only one way to control the great Russia on, and it was to make itself the occupier of this huge zone.
The occupying power had to be strong, brutal, unpredictable, and incomprehensible to the people. The people should have no choice but to obey and cultivate this power. And a single person sits at the top of this dark pyramid, a single human being who has absolute power and every conceivable right.
Paradoxically, this principle of power has not changed in the slightest in Russia in the last five centuries. I see this as our country's greatest tragedy. Our medieval pyramid has stood steady all this time. It has changed on the surface, but never in its basic construction. And there has always been one Russian ruler at the top: Peter the Great, Nikolai II, Stalin, Brezhnev, Andropov ...
Today, Putin has been at the top of the pyramid for more than 20 years. He has broken the promise, he clings to the chair with all his might. "
It hurts to see this man, who himself sits safely behind safe walls, send young men to their deaths. Who kills innocent civilians and destroys a free and independent country to satisfy his own greed. May he one day be held accountable for what he has done.
