I’m delighted to finally share STAR WARS: ORIGINS, a crazily ambitious Star Wars meets Indiana Jones fan film I’ve been working on for over 3 years!

Written & Directed by me and co-produced with the amazing – and equally as insane – Velvet Film and Exec Produced by Gary Cowan, STAR WARS: ORIGINS was shot in the actual Sahara Desert.

Why so crazy? If shooting in 50 degree heat isn’t enough for you, then it’s the fact that it’s probably the most expensive fan film ever made. And it’s a film made completely ‘not-for-profit’. LucasFilm is amazing to allow filmmakers to dabble in the Star Wars universe… as long as we’re not making any money out of it.

So, why? I’ve made it as a calling card to gain the attention of major studios for proper big budget work. I’ve been lucky enough to make five low budget features that have been released and sold… but I’m never going to get the level and type of film I want to make without doing something bold and ambitious to show what I can do. So, I’ve literally put everything I have into making this film… go big or go home, right?

STAR WARS: ORIGINS will take a unique look at where the saga began. A thrilling action adventure film drawing inspiration from both STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES to tell an epic story based on Earth during WWII.

Filmed in the Sahara Desert, Morocco, Star Wars: Origins is the culmination of three years’ work, from writer/director by Phil Hawkins (@philmblog), Executive Producer Gary Cowan and Velvet Film (@velvetfilm).

Starring Marie Everett (WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY, Netflix), Jamie Costa (HAN SOLO: A SMUGGLER’S TRADE, HISHE), Hadrian Howard (THE MUMMY, MI ROGUE NATION) and Philip Walker.
