About me
Here's the short version. Robin writes copy to move products and move people. He believes big ideas get big results. He can remember advertising in the '80s. He had hair back then too.
The slightly longer version. Robin's creative career began over 30 years ago with Ogilvy and Mather Direct in Wellington, starting out as a junior direct marketing copywriter. With a couple of years' experience under his belt, he wangled a transfer to the agency's London office in Soho Square. He returned to Auckland three years later, well-travelled and as Creative Director of the Direct agency.
Soon after, he made the move 'above the line' adding a wealth of brand work to his already extensive DM portfolio. He was lucky enough to work with such well-known brands as Sanitarium, BP, AA, American Express, the Ministry of Education, Shell, GE Money, House of Travel, KFC, Pizza Hut and GSK.
After two decades with Ogilvy, Robin joined the Grey network in Auckland's G2 office, which soon merged with BCG and became BCG2. Robin spent 16 years as the Creative Director, extending his list of brands to include Audi, Beef & Lamb, Canon, Fletcher Aluminium, Fonterra, Gas NZ, Jack Daniel's, Milford Asset Management, Nestle, NZ Blood, NZ Rugby, .nz, Rinnai, SafeKids, and Volvo.
Robin also became a bit of a rural specialist with three clients in particular: Property Brokers, Rabobank, and FMG Insurance (who he worked with for over 11 years). He now knows the pros and cons of rotational grazing, is an advocate of riparian planting, and is strangely impressed by the egg laying prowess of the Rhode Island Red.
