About me

Scott Aronow was born on Long Island and raised in Westchester County, NY. Focusing on both music and art from the very beginning, he fell in love with theater design as a teenager--in high school and local summer stocks--developing skills and experience through a series of jobs and internships in theater companies throughout the NYC area. Scott attended Boston University's School for the Arts and graduated with honors in 2000 with a BFA in Scenic Design.

After working professionally throughout college at the Huntington Theatre Company, The Williamstown Theater Festival, the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, Hartford Theaterworks and the Pleasance Theatre in London, Scott moved to New York City in late 2000. Since then, he has been designing there and around the country, amassing over 200 credits, including academic, off-Broadway, regional, operatic and commercial productions.

Among his credits are the NYC premiers of The Trunk (off--Broadway, The Flea Theater), Z-Team and The Chekhov Dreams (off-Broadway, at Theatre Row), The Rivals (the operatic version, at the Bronx Opera), The Screwtape Letters (Fellowship for the Performing Arts), The Capital Mall (off-Broadway), Illyria and The Alchemists (Prospect Theater), A Ritual of Faith (Theater Row) and dozens of other productions in NY and NJ. Scott is was frequent designer for the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and the Jenny Wiley Theatre in Prestonsburg, KY and has had stints as the resident designer for the Union High School Performing Arts Company and the Nightingale-Bamford School. Regional credits include productions at The Candlelight Dinner Theater (Co), Theatreworks Colorado Springs, The Salt Marsh Opera (RI and CT), The St. Petersburg Opera (FL), The Janiec Opera at The Brevard Music Center (NC), The Meadow Brook Theatre and Grand Valley State University (both in MI), The Barter Theatre and Ash Lawn Opera (both in VA), The Palace Theater (NH), The Shakespeare Theater of NJ, The John W. Engeman Theatre, Cohoes Music Hall, Cortland Rep. and Penguin Rep. (all in NY State) and the Boston University Theater (MA).

When not working in the theater, Scott is a avid musician and enjoys playing the piano and composing music. He currently lives in Larchmont, NY (in Westchester County) with his wife Rachel, a pediatrician, and three children: Hannah, a avid dancer and theater-kid (age 14), Michael, a aspiring engineer and chess-master (age 10), and Joshua, a furture deep-sea-diver (age 5).
