ABOUT

The Challenge
Behind every successful campaign is a team. It’s successful because the right team got around a table.
We know that the success of each project is determined by collaboration between all parties: client, strategy and creative.

With all our clients, especially Google, we kept hearing the same question: how can we improve collaboration between the client and agencies?

With that in mind and the holiday season upon us, we set out to create something that would answer that question. We know that excellent creative work is a team effort, and wanted to share how we collaborate to achieve that. And of course, have fun while doing it!

The solution
What do people do during the festive season, both in work and out? They spend more time with colleagues, family and friends.

To leverage this and invoke nostalgia, we created a classic strategy board game named ‘Catchup!’.
In addition to getting clients together with their teams, the game showcases that to win (and create the best work) you need to get your team of Creative, Strategy, and Client in a room, ready to collaborate and Catchup!. It also sheds a light on how we use insights to inform our creative, and turn a run-of-the-mill campaign into something special.

The game is simple, each player has a team of Creative, Strategy, and Client to lead around the board, and to win they have to be the first to get their team in the room for a Catchup!. The teams may encounter a few bumps in the road (like having to go back to start if the brief isn’t right), but what team doesn’t?

The entire game is controlled by cards that reward things like ‘quick and speedy feedback’ and ‘the power of 3: creativity, commitment, collaboration,’ or tells you to take a step back ‘to give the client room to breathe.’ There are strategy cards that let players switch places with their opponents, send them back to the start or split their move between two pieces.

Finally, we decided to not only talk the talk but also walk the walk. In true board game fashion, we set up a Catchup! Tournament and invited our clients to meet up, catch-up, and have a bit of fun in January.

The results
Apart from a host of happy and excited clients, the DM was delivered in early December 2018, so results are coming soon!
