About me

Serge Dumont is Vice Chairman, and Chairman Asia Pacific, of Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE: OMC), a leading marketing and communications holding company whose subsidiaries provide advertising, public relations, and other marketing services to more than 5,000 clients in over 100 countries. One of his key responsibilities is developing and managing the Greater China business market, the second largest advertsing market after the USA. For the 12 months ending 31 December 2015, Omnicom's worldwide revenues were US $15.13 billion, and revenues in Asia Pacific were US $1.72 billion. At the end of 2015, Omnicom employed approximately 74,900 people worldwide.

A recognized authority on global business and strategic communications, Serge Dumont is an active participant in the World Economic Forum and a frequent public speaker. With a focus on world issues and decades of experience in Asia and China, he regularly advises multinational corporations on how to navigate the Asian markets as well as guiding Chinese enterprises in their efforts to globalize.

In the course of his career, he has been retained to advise governments and international organizations at the highest levels. He was appointed jointly by both the Beijing Municipal Government and the World Health Organization to lead a team of crisis management experts during the SARS epidemic in 2003. That same year, he was made a UNAIDS special representative, serving as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. He was also appointed as a Foreign Trade Advisor to the French Government.

A committed philanthropist, he serves on the board of several educational and philanthropic institutions including the Corporate Advisory Board of the China European International Business School (CEIBS), the board of trustees of the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), one of the leading charitable organizations in China, and the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University School of Journalism and Communications.

Mr Dumont has been a pioneer in China's corporate and marketing communications industry. In 1985, as a young entrepreneur, he established China's first independent corporate communications agency, Interasia. It quickly acquired a roster of Fortune 500 clients and became China's top communications consultancy. Eight years later, he sold the business to Edelman.

He has received honors and awards from several national governments and international organizations for his contributions to business, philanthropy, culture and education.

A graduate of the Sorbonne University in Paris, he holds a dual degree in oriental languages and civilizations, and has studied at the Taiwan Normal University and the Political Institute in Taipei. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and French
