Tom Baker (Doctor Who number four) had been asked to record a new reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and I was commissioned to do a 'traditional' cover painting for the cd cover. I was given several excellent photographs of the actor during his recording sessions and told to be 'dramatic' so I chose to depict Scrooge hiding behind his bed curtains being confronted by one of the ghosts that visit him on Christmas Eve. I painted the whole thing in gouache on watercolour board and added a little bit of extra glow on the candle in Photoshop.
