ABOUT

OBJECTIVES
To produce an illustration for Pistonhead Lager based around the theme of “change”.

MATERIALS
1 blue Staedtler pencil
1 Derwent pencil extender
British Moths: Second Edition
1 bottle of Pistonhead Crude Oil Liqueur
1 Edding 8400 marker pen
Goldline A3 70gsm marker paper
24 cans of Pistonhead Kustom Lager
1 tube of PHIZZ hangover vitamins

OUTCOME
Brutal Brewing approached me and asked me to supply them with an illustration to use for their new year marketing campaign. The theme I was briefed with was “change” so I spent eight cold nights in the wild searching for the rare Piston-Head Hawkmoth - an embodiment of change, the strange and the downright deranged.

I managed to find one on the eleventh hour of the eighth night, just as I was about to give up hope and head back to my camp. I was staring through my trusty wheely-binoculars when I felt an itch at the end of my chinny chin-chin. I was just about to give myself an old fashioned chin-scratch when I noticed that one of these colourful little fellas was sitting there reading a tiny newspaper and helping himself to my granola. Quick as a wick, I managed to reach for a crayon and just about sketch him down before he flew away and returned home, or into the ocean or something.

The best way to show how he looked is with an animated GIF, but don’t stare for too long - I’ve seen many a man catch a nasty bout of moth madness!
